Eco Groms (9-12 years)

Give kids a taste of life as a marine animal carer and inspire a passion for conservation.

This engaging, hands-on, after-school adventure program is ideal for 9-12-year-olds.

Activities including caring for some of the animals that call Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary home. Help care for rehabilitating wildlife in our Turtle Triage.

Learn the importance of our environmental enrichment program by interacting with marine animals in our care, including dolphins, penguins and Australian sea lions.

Discover the cultural significance of marine life and the environment to our local first nations people.

Each afternoon comprises three components: a syllabus-based lesson on each species, a practical activity with each species and a creative activity (which changes weekly).

Animals include: Little Blue Penguins, Freshwater Turtles, Sea Turtles, Australian Sea Lions, Fish/rays and Dolphins.

Eco Groms includes:

• Feeding and caring for sick sea turtles in the Turtle Triage
• Getting splashed by fish, rays and sharks
• Meeting freshwater turtles up close and learning the threats they face in our water ways
• Peeking behind the scenes of the Little Blue Penguins, the world’s smallest penguins
• Interacting with endangered Australian sea lions and learning what we can do to help them.
• Discovering the human threats facing dolphins.

Enclosed footwear is essential
