Wildlife Recovery Australia's mobile vet clinic visits the Sanctuary

Today we had the privilege of welcoming Wildlife Recovery Australia’s Matilda — Australia’s first fully equipped Mobile Wildlife Hospital — to Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary, marking the start of their national tour.

During the visit, the veterinary team worked alongside our animal care staff to conduct a full health assessment of Jack, the green sea turtle, including diagnostic testing and X-rays.

These advanced checks help ensure Jack’s rehabilitation continues in the best possible way, giving him the strongest chance of returning safely to the ocean.

Jack is proudly sponsored by Coffs Harbour Community Preschool, and we were honoured to have their wonderful team join us today to see this important part of his care journey firsthand. Their support helps make the rescue, rehabilitation and recovery of turtles like Jack possible.

Matilda’s visit highlights the growing collaboration across Australia to improve wildlife medicine and emergency response for injured native animals. Having this incredible mobile hospital on site today gave our team and local wildlife carers a rare opportunity to access specialist equipment and expertise right here on the Coffs Coast.

A heartfelt thank you to the team from Wildlife Recovery Australia and Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital for bringing Matilda to the Sanctuary and helping support the animals in our care.
