The Australian Sea Lion is endangered, and unfortunately their numbers have continued to decline due to a history of hunting, and ocean plastic.  

Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary has the most successful species conservation program of any facility worldwide.

Australian sea lions are members of the ‘eared seal’ group and have a small external ear.


They have a third eyelid! It’s clear so they can still see while protecting their eye at the same time.


Their heart rate falls to 5 beats per minute while diving underwater!


When they’re underwater, their nostrils and ears close completely?
